This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.
If you can install plugins, install “Health Check”: https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/ On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for JUST you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site. You can then use its admin bar menu to turn on/off plugins and themes one at a time. See https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/appendix/troubleshooting-using-the-health-check/ or https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/ for more information.
Hi Steven,
Thanks for the suggestion.
So I just installed Health Check, put it in Troubleshooting mode, and the link still takes me to a feed (the feed is just invalid now because Powerpress is disabled).
What I don’t see on your site are the standard RSS links.
For example, on my test site’s home page, I see
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Local Test » Feed" href="http://wplocal.local/feed/" />
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Local Test » Comments Feed" href="http://wplocal.local/comments/feed/" />
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Local Test » Front Page Comments Feed" href="http://wplocal.local/front-page/feed/" />
Do you have any plugins that might disable such links?
Anything set in Yoast?
Are there any plugins that can show all of the WordPress files pulled and in what order when a page loads? There have been countless occasions where I would have loved to have that.
Two that I use are “Query Monitor” and “Show Current Template”.
Sorry, our two posts above crossed in the ether.
I do have Yoast but I don’t think I have set anything in it. Where would I look to answr your question?
I’m not sure, but something is removing your normal feeds.
Let’s try disabling all plugins without using health check, and change the theme to one of the standard twenty* themes.
So I switched briefly to the standard (non-child) twenty-ninteen theme. Still was redirecting to the feed. So I deactivated all plugins and switched themes. Things worked fine.
So I switched back to old theme. Still fine.
So I re-activated all plugins. Still fine.
Not sure how that works. But things seem to be working fine now. Thanks for your help.
