Hi all,
I recently cleaned up a lot of old content on my blog and deleted about 400 posts, streamlining my site down to about 6 static pages and 4 posts.
I removed the blog from the header menu as I want to make it more of a static website from now on. I also transitioned the site from http to https.
I’ve since been getting Google coverage issues as Google has listed most of my deleted posts as ‘Submitted URL not found (404)’ issues. The posts were deleted over a month ago but they’re still listed as issues.
My blog URL itself is getting a ‘Submitted URL marked ‘noindex’’ error.
I don’t want to go into robots.txt and disallow the URLs for 200+ now deleted posts – but I don’t know how else to communicate to Google’s bots that the posts no longer exist.
I’m not sure if it has to do with my removing the ‘Blog’ from my site header menu, or if shifting my site to https will have had any knock-on effects. Doing all these things at once means I’m not sure what caused what.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
