Yeah, I also just read the sun is falling. Everyone RUN!
How is WordPress (the software, where you’re now) censoring any site? HOW CAN THAT EVEN BE TECHNICALLY POSSIBLE?
Or do you mean WordPress.com, which is a 3rd-party service independent of the WordPress project (ie the software at WordPress.org, where you posted this)?
From your link:
What does this mean? It means CTH is being kicked-off the [WordPress website hosting platform] because the content of our research and discussion does not align with the ideology of those who define what is acceptable speech and what is not.
Emphasis mine. See the last paragraph in my sentence response above. The article specifically mentions “WordPress hosting platform” which could be WordPress.com or some other WordPress hosting platform… and not the WordPress software.
The WordPress software (WordPress.org) is just that… software that doesn’t host anything for you. And technically, cannot censor you in any ware. It’s just like saying Microsoft Word or Apple Pages (again, just word processing software on your computer) is censoring you from writing. Just doesn’t add up!
Here’s another example: YouTube (the video hosting platform) can censor you from uploading videos they don’t want to see on their platform. But there’s no way iMovie or Adobe Premiere (software for creating video) can prevent you from creating the video.
PS: Please note that I’m only writing about the technical impossibility that a publishing software (again, not a hosting service that decides what to allow or not allow on their platform) can be censoring.
